Tailoring & Alteration Policy
Tailoring is at the heart of Mario Barutti. This policy explains our alteration service, what is included, and the terms that apply. By having a garment altered by us — whether bought online or in-store — you accept these terms.
Our Alteration Service
Standard alterations on suits ordered online at barutti.ae are complimentary — we perfect the fit at no extra cost. For in-store purchases, non-suit items, and work beyond a standard fit, alterations are a paid tailoring service carried out at our Dubai atelier. Pricing depends on the work required and is always quoted and confirmed in advance in the boutique before any work begins.
Typical Alterations
- Hemming of sleeves and trousers
- Minor waist take-in or let-out (within seam allowance)
- Small sleeve-length adjustments
Major resizing, jacket/shoulder reconstruction and restyling are quoted separately.
Fitting & Approval
All alterations are carried out based on the measurements taken and the adjustments agreed at your fitting. We recommend a personal fitting at our atelier; where measurements are provided remotely or by you, the alteration is performed on that basis and at your responsibility. For paid work, we will not begin until the requested adjustments — and the charge for the work — are confirmed.
Altered Items Are Final Sale
Once a garment has been altered to your measurements, it is considered final sale and cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded for change of mind, sizing, or fit — because the alteration is unique to you and the garment cannot be resold. The only exception is where the item is genuinely faulty or defective, in which case your statutory rights under UAE consumer-protection law apply.
Limits of the Service
Alterations are limited by the construction and seam allowance of each garment; not every adjustment is possible, and we will advise you at your fitting. The charge for any paid work will always be confirmed in advance before any work begins. Fabric behaviour, stretch, and natural variation after wear or cleaning are outside our control and are not considered faults.
Garments Not Purchased from Us
Where we agree to alter a garment not purchased from Mario Barutti, this is a paid service done entirely at the customer's risk. We accept no liability for the condition, fit, fabric or outcome of such garments, and any charge will be agreed in advance.
Turnaround & Collection
Most alterations are completed within a few business days, depending on the adjustment and workload; timings given are estimates only and not guaranteed. We will confirm timing at your fitting. Please collect altered garments promptly. Items left uncollected for an extended period may be subject to storage at the customer's risk.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by UAE law, our liability for any alteration is limited to re-performing the alteration or, where that is not possible, to the value of the garment. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in this policy removes rights that cannot be excluded under UAE law.
